Out of all the ads that I saw from the SuperBowl,  this one is my favorite one. It was a fantastic idea to show that the car is intended for certain audience, but made fun of them at the same time. It is rare to see creativity used in this way. Two thumbs up for this one.

PS: The Kenny G part was hilarious!

Car commercials are  my second favorite kind of ads- condom ads will always be my favorite. It must be the theme this week to release awesome car commercials. Volkswagen released a very interesting ad this week that got almost 4 million views on YouTube, but I think the Kia ad managed to get me more interested in driving their car than the Volkswagen one. It’s probably the special effects and Poseidon. Also, the tagline, “One Epic Ride” sounds more appealing to me. I’m probably not the same demographic that Volkswagen was trying to reach, but who cares? I’m not buying a car anytime soon.

The 2012 Passat isn’t out yet, but it’s ad is. It isn’t as funny as they would like it to be, but anyone who pretended to be a character from Star Wars can identify with it. However, what did we learn about the Passat? Nothing.

I think this Fiat campaign is still my favorite.

Fiat is using Facebook sounds and references to promote its new Fiat 500. In the ad young people pee on walls, laugh at small “statuses,” creep women and even sleep with your sister, then quotes the message and popping sound you get when somebody pees writes on your Facebook wall.” If you check their website, you can see similar ads and find out why this car is the greatest car ever! Ok, I don’t really know that, but the ads target young tweens that can’t care less about rules. The popping Facebook notification sound is what makes these commercials so funny. At the end of each commercial the word “Disconnect” comes up, which is an excellent tagline for a generation that would rather spend an evening online than experience real life.

I don’t know why is it that car commercials are so freaking cool. It’s probably because car companies get so much money from the government to invest in jobs. Well, at least some very talented ad agency is getting a well-deserved pay cheque this week. Nothing like a very hip car driving very fast around the streets of some cool mediterranean city. You can never go wrong with that combination.
