Ads like this one are the reason why I want to work for advertising. Not only the graphics are amazing, but the whole story of Mr. Peanut and the Nutcracker is amazing.

On other news, Paul Rudnick just published a story on the New Yorker talking about Mr Peanut’s gay affair with Mr. Clean and his coming out.

Whoa… I can’t believe the number of people who really like this ad! I have sent complaints to the Planter’s company (Kraft Foods) and the station on which I saw the ad. Why did the writers decide to spoil a wonderful holiday party scene with implied violence (the bandage on Mr. Peanut’s shell) and overt violence (Mr. Peanut slugging Richard the Nutcracker). I failed to see the humor of that. Come to think of it… I haven’t seen the ad for the past week or so. I will not be buying Planter’s peanuts.
